Project Description
The Project is one of the largest and most ambitious cultural projects in the world. Its vision is to create a vibrant new cultural quarter for Hong Kong on forty hectares of reclaimed land located alongside Victoria Harbour. The Integrated Basement in Zone 2A is the largest site remaining at the District to be developed, which is very importance to create a vehicular-free environment; to meet the statutory public open space requirement of not less than 23 ha; and to serve as the backbone infrastructure of West Kowloon Cultural District.
Scope of Works
Construction of foundations and retaining structures, carrying out dewatering and excavation and lateral support works, and structural modification works. Foundations include large diameter bored piles and rock socketed H-piles, while retaining structures include interlocking pipe pile walls.
– Bored piles: (a) 128 nos., (b) diameter 2.5m & 3m
– Rock socketed H-piles: (a) 198 nos., (b) diameter 610mm
– Interlocking pipe piles: (a) 804 nos., (b) diameter 813mm
– Excavation and lateral support works: (a) bulk excavation 286,500m3, (b) strut & waling 15,800 tons
