Project Description
The Central – Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link is a 4.5km long dual three-lane trunk road with a 3.7km long tunnel which forms part of an East-West strategic route along the north shore of Hong Kong Island.
Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Section is a 750m section of the Central – Wan Chai Bypass tunnel between the ex-Wan Chai Public Cargo Working Area and the east breakwater of the Typhoon Shelter.
Scope of Works
Construction of diaphragm walls as retaining structures for the cut and cover tunnels of Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter Section. The works also include pre-excavation ground treatment, slurry walls, and rock fissure / contact grouting underneath diaphragm wall toe.
– Diaphragm walls: (a) 1.5m thick, (b) 1,244m long, (c) depth 14m to 74m
– Pre-excavation ground treatment: (a) 30,954m2
– Slurry walls: (a) 5,900m2
– Rock fissure / contact grouting: (a) 3,198m2
